Gajar (Carrot) Halwa

Ingredients:   Method:

1 Kg Carrots

1 Litre Full Fat Milk

1 cup Mawa

400 grams Sugar

2 tbsp ghee

1/2 cup Dry fruits (sliced almonds raisins)

few flakes of saffron

1 tsp Cardamom Powder



Wash peel and grate carrots.

Put milk and grated carrots in a heavy base Vessel and  boil until it gets thick. Keep stirring occasionally. After mixture gets thick stir continuously.


Add sugar, cardamom powder, saffron flakes and half dry fruits and stir until really thick.


Add ghee and mawa and keep cooking on low heat until ghee starts separating.


Decorate with remaining dry fruits and serve hot.


This is a very good Indian dessert which is eaten mostly in winters.
